The 7th Grade Band will be traveling to Kell High School on Tuesday, March 27th to participate in the District 12 Large Group Performance Evaluation. Students will need to bring their clothes (or wear them!) to school that day. At the end of 5th period, they will go to their lockers and then report to the theater. Students will receive a Chick-Fil-A sandwich and a bottle of water, so if anyone does not like those options, they need to bring alternative snacks. They will then be given the opportunity to change clothes, although time will be very limited. We will load the buses and head out around 5:00 p.m.
Parents, please join us for the evening's activities -- our performance is at 7:00 p.m., but then you may follow us to our next room where a clinician will work with the students for about 10-15 minutes. The final part of the evening involves sightreading -- where the band will work for 6 minutes and then play a piece they've never seen before for an evaluation. After the students are packed up, you may take them home from Kell, but please check out with me, Dr. Strauss, or a designated parent chaperone. Also, if you do take your child home, please make sure that they take their instrument with them (not leave it on the bus). If your child will be riding the bus home, we plan to get back to East Cobb around 9 p.m.
We are in the process of contacting chaperones to join us -- we have close to 90 students, so we need any assistance you can provide! In particular, we are looking for someone with a large vehicle (Van, SUV) to help with percussion equipment. Since we are taking school buses, loading percussion equipment will be more of a challenge than with charter buses. Please let either Ms. Pezold or Dr. Strauss know if you can help out in any way.
We are looking forward to a great experience on Tuesday and we hope to see all of you there!
